Mark was not only my uncle, but also one of my best friends. One of the biggest stars in my sky, and one of my favourite people in life. Uncle Mark was more like an older brother to me than an uncle. We understood each other. We confided in each other. We laughed a whole lot together. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are with him. Because he was there throughout every phase of my life, so many of my friends – from childhood, through college and adulthood also knew him. I’m grateful that he helped guide me through my own cancer journey and lived long enough to see that I’m OK. He was an artist – not just as a craft, but in his soul. Mark lived irreverently and unconventionally. Sometimes mysteriously. Life without him is still unimaginable.
