A man who served an amazing career in the Coast Guard and always made time for family and friends. His wife and I met more than 30 years ago and they were my “adopted parents” as I was all alone in this city.
Jack and Dellie ensured I was welcome at every family gathering and many evening dinners. I especially enjoyed the sprited political discussions that occurred during dinner as Jack was so well read. Working for other political organizations and priding myself on being a life-long student, I always walked away with some new found knowledge or a new perspective on things.
Jack was a great family man and loved his wife dearly. I always wished I had someone in my life who treasured his love like that. Jack lost his valiant fight to cancer many years ago and a year before his 50th wedding anniversary. I will always keep the compassion, kindness and love that Jack displayed in my heart.
